Audrey describes her design aesthetic as clean and organized. She is a mission-oriented designer. She likes to incorporate airy, light, and delicate, but also rough and gritty qualities. Nature, interior spaces, lighting, art, and literature inspire her. Her earliest design memory is when she decided to change the typefaces in a group project in 4th grade and she changed the headings on each slide to a cursive script type and her group mates got mad because they could not read it and when they asked her if she changed it she said no because she got embarrassed. The last time she saw a digital design that surprised her was when she looked at the websites in Laurel's are.na board.
Audrey defines Interaction Design as design that interacts with the user and engages them by incorporating them into the design. The designer has to understand that the user is interacting with the design in different modalities. She thinks digital design has to have movement and flow to it to engage a user. Both have to be captivating to garner attention but digital designs have to make up for the lack of physical interaction with the design. Physical design has to be accommodated to incorporate movement and flow. Audrey believes UI and UX means design that is informed by user experience. UI is the how and UX is the why. She is interested in learning more about web design and creating user-friendly experiences.
